It's a fair question - and usually the answer is no.
When you compare the cost of a robot to a single piece of equipment, it can seem expensive. But that's not necessarily what you’re getting.
A robot can often replace or complement a slider, dolly, compact jib, overhead rig, dedicated motion control system, and much of the rigging and time that comes with moving between them. Add the production time saved from faster setups, quicker programming, fewer rigging changes, and keeping the camera on the same platform throughout the day, and the value becomes much easier to see.

It’s surprisingly fast.
Depending on the production, the system can be unpacked, configured, and ready for the first shot in as little as 15 minutes. Once you're rolling, many new camera moves can be created, refined, and repeated in 3–5 minutes. No fussing with the perfect slider height, or complex rigging for an overhead shot, only to get picture up and realize you’re off by a few inches, or the movement is too fast/slow - our robots can handle easy or complex modifications - and any movements are infinitely repeatable to get the perfect take.
That speed comes from a workflow designed for production. Whether physically guiding the camera to key positions with Free Drive, adjusting moves on the fly, or refining timing and motion digitally, building complex camera movement becomes intuitive and collaborative - allowing directors and DPs to focus on the story instead of the technology.

Unlike traditional motion control systems, SLIM travels as standard checked luggage, making sophisticated robotic camera movement practical almost anywhere. Whether you're working in a small apartment, shooting tabletop, mounting to a car, capturing long-duration time-lapses, or flying to an international location, the system is designed to arrive quickly, deploy fast, and keep production moving (did we mention they can be battery powered?!).
Along with their proprietary rolling bases, both robots feature industry-standard Mitchell mounting, allowing them to integrate seamlessly with dollies, cranes, sliders, and other production support when the shot calls for it.
STRETCH was designed with the same philosophy. While its larger size requires cargo shipping and a bit more planning, it's still remarkably transportable compared to traditional motion control systems and is built to travel wherever the production takes it.

Not at all. Repeatable motion and beautiful camera movements are only one part of the story. Our robots often become the primary camera support platform for the entire day - handling everything from product shots to overheads, beauty moves, dynamic camera movement, and precision repeatable sequences, even static shots - without constantly changing equipment and rigging new setups. Of course we’re capable of handling all the complex motion control sequences as well, and we play nice in the virtual production world too - directly interfacing with platforms like Unreal Engine for camera tracking.
